With the start of a new year we always like to focus on whats at hand to target while we are offshore. I absolutely love the colder months for Hogfishing. Light tackle using shrimp or crabs is the way to go while targeting these tasty critters. You also get a great by catch such as mangrove snapper, porgy, lane snapper, grunts and some Red Grouper. I feel like as the water temp get cold in 60’s degree mark many fish tend to slow up a little bit. But we have had some of our best Hog Fishing trips during this time of the year. Four and six hour trips seem to be the go for these types of trips.
On our full day trips we are still targeting Red Grouper and a variety of snapper to join the fish box with them. Just because the water is colder doesn’t mean the Grouper fishing isn’t on fire. The hardest part of grouper fishing this time of the year is finding a weather window to make it offshore in between cold fronts. Give us a call to book your trip or you can book online.
